My college experience so far.

My college experience has been great so far even though absences have cased me to miss some. I've enjoyed learning new things that interest me. I've even made new friends which is fantastic. College is helping me get to the media career I want. The more I learn the more intrigued I get and want to learn more. I loved finding out how the movies actually do that kind of thing. College hasn't let me down once. So far and I hope it continues this way the whole year. :)

Curriculum For excellence.

The four capacities are: Successful learners, confident individuals, Responsible citizens and effective contributors.

I use all of these at college.

In my special effects and make up class successful learners are very important because if we learn something successfully it will help us to understand other things effectively and help us pass our assessments. Being unconfident individual is dyer in this course as we are working with other constantly and of you don't have the courage to talk to even explain what your doing then you wont get far. You have to be responsible because we are working with chemicals and could Hurt someone even ourselves as we work on delicate areas e.g the face. If people don't try as hard as other people we could effectively be pulling people down instead of helping them
On their way.

Hairdressing class is another which needs these capacities to be met. If we arent successful learners in hairdressing we could damage someone's hair even our own. We have to be confident to talk and explain things to put clients and also to try knew techniques and hairstyles to help us stand out and pass the course. Being responsible In this class helps keep people sake as we are working with chemicals and electrical equipment. If propel contribute it could help other pass, be more confident and also learn more.

You new to b a successful learner in all classes and wigs is one of them being successful means understanding and carrying out the task by also asking for help too. You new to be confident in wigs to know your capable of doing it and not hair giving up like ske
People do. We work with sharp pins and needles in wig class and so carrying on can be very dangerous so being responsible is an epic new in this class to ensure everyones safety. People who contribute more help the class because you can always get one of your classmates to help you and you can also contribute to the class if you have a particular view on the subject at hand.

Halloween characters.

The joker: to recreate the jokers make is is firstly moulding a curved price of tissue to the edge of the mouth/ cheek with latex to keep it in place
Do the same with the other side until you've created the "smile" shape. Next I would apply White aqua colour face paint as a base coat then paint the lips bright red and also the latex "smile" after that I would paint black messy circles around The eyes and then put dark reddish brown lines put from the "smile to create" the skin tightness.

Beetlejuice: I would paint the face very pale but not clown White, and then add brown greasepaint along the hair line and randomly about the face to make him look dirty also add green greasepaint around the face to create the mouldy fungus. After that I would add latex randomly on the forehead cheeks and nose then put green and yellow over them to make the mould textured. After this I would put dark green almost black around the eyes.

Chuckie: even though he's a doll he can be recreated. I would apply foundation jut to create a smooth texture to the skin. Then I'd put wax where I wanted all the scars to be, place a dent in them with the edge of a pair of scissors then I'd colour the indented line I just made with blood red paint then I'd go around the eyes with a faded version of the blood red colour and then shade the underline of the eye with purple to create a sinister dark shadowy look. Put some White on the cheek bones an under some of the eyes to create highlights.

Skin conditions and make up for them.

Acne: Acne is a condition that can waver from calm to extreme spots sometimes it's just a few over your teen years -although it can occur in adult too- or can be so severe your left with scarring. The best make up to use of course depends on toe skin but mineral based products are always best.

Oily skin: Oily skin is just what its name suggests someone who has very oily/ dirty big pours I would suggest powder based makeup as it would make your skin a little less oily but also An oil control lotion or moisturiser.

Dry skin: dry skin is where The skin loses moisture this may be because of the weather or the makeup your using or even how long or warm your bath is. I would use a moisturiser on your skin everyday especially before applying make up the make ip I would use is a water based one.

Skin pigment disorders: These are caused by low amounts of Melanin which would only effect patches of the body makeup people have brown patches if pale and White patches if fair, melanin is what Makes our skin the colour it is, dark skinned people produce more than fair skinned and albinos dot produce any. Michael jackson ha this disease to an extremity. You can buy special treatments to help but it won't go away and any make up is suitable unles you have sensitive skin of course.

Wigs throughout time.

Wigs have been worn throughout history and not just as a fashion item. Wigs were worn to demonstrate wealth and importance as well as having a more practical purpose as protection against bad weather. Wigs were even worn in wars to impress the enemy!

The ancient Egyptians, wore them to shield their hairless heads from the sun and for ceremonial occasions.

In the 16th century a wig would have been worn to hide hair loss or improving their looks. They also served as a way to stop from getting head lice, a problem that could be much reduced if natural hair were shaved and replaced with a more easily de-loused wig.

Queen Elizabeth I of England famously wore a red wig, tightly and elaborately curled in a "Roman" style and King Louis XIII started wig-wearing in men from the 1620s onwards.

Periwigs for men were introduced into the England when Charles II became king again in 1660. The wigs worn at this time were shoulder-length or longer. Their use soon became popular in the English court.

The best wigs were made from natural human hair. The hair of horses and goats was often used as a cheaper alternative.

In the 18th century, wigs were powdered in order to give them a distinct colour. Wig powder was occasionally colored violet, blue, pink or yellow but mostly white or off-White.

After 1790, both wigs and powder were used mostly by older more conservative men, and were in use by woman at court. In 1795, the English government levied a tax of hair powder of one guinea per year. This tax caused the demise of fashion for wigs and powder by 1800.

At the beginning of the 20th Century more freely arranged hairpieces were being used. In the 1920’s short hair cuts became fashionable and the trend for wigs almost disappeared overnight until the 1960’s.

Now in the 21st Century there is still a good need for wigs because of hairloss, medical reasons, fashion, hair extension and religious requirements.

Fantasy make up looks.

My first fantasy make up is Edward scissor hands, his look consists of White face with scars and cuts an no eyebrows and jet black hair that's very messy. I would create this look by firstly Doing his eyebrows or rather lack thereof I would just put eyebrow plast over them smoothly and then put foundation over them a White foundation is best i would apply it all over his face and neck, to create the old scars I would apply barrier cream and rub it in well then draw a Lin with either red greasepaint or a pencil to show where all the scars would be then apply latex along the line and before it dries shape it quickly because ether are old scars for new one it would be a different method. For the new cuts however it would be firstly I would place wax on the area to be cut using flesh toned greasepaints I would paint over the wax for a more realistic look run place a slice in the wax and then put fake blood in and around the cut. Afte this I would then put a darker colour over his lips and eyes perhaps brown and/or purple to give his the gothic look that Tim burton has.

The next look ill describe is Alex pettifer in beastly, I would fist pu a bald cap on his then put a bass of foundation that matches his skin all over to blend the cap in with his face, after than I would paint on his ratios with aquapaint after that I'd put the deep scars in by applying barrier cream and rubbing it in well, drawing a line where the scar will be using red greasepaint as I want it to look fresh so I would blend it in as much then apply either scar plastic or latex and Shape it quickly befor it dries I'd paint crimson around the edges to make it look sore and new. for the metal plates I'd personally put a layer of latex then layer it up with tissue an then paint over it with metallic paint.

My last fantasy make up look is Brandon Lee in the crow, firstly I would apply a White aqua colour basecoat and then paint and shaky messy smile from the middle of his cheek through his mouth and then to his other cheek, then I'd paint his
Lips black too, after that i would paint round his eyes with the black aqua clout but id make it more runny to add to his undead gothic creepiness I would also put lines from the middle of his eye brow down to jus underneath the middle of his eye.

Elizabethan era picture.

History of make up, Elizabethan era

The Elizabethan era makeup intrigues me because their makeup actually gave them illnesses and infections and yet they still continued to wear it.Upper class women of the Elizabethan era wore make-up. Queen Elizabeth I set the fashions and as she grew older she more wore elaborate make-up which hid her wrinkles and other signs of ageing. At one time Queen Elizabeth had contracted small pox which had left some scarring on her face. The heavy white make-up also helped to hide this and maintain her illusion of beauty. The Elizabethan view of pure beauty was a woman with light hair and a snow white complexion complimented with red cheeks and red lips.A pale complexion could only be achieved by a woman of the upper class. Lower class women worked outside and therefore acquired a tan.  The pale complexion ended up a sign of wealth an immediate identification for a person from the upper classes! This alabaster complexion was therefore also required by Elizabethan men! The favoured application of the upper classes was a make-up called ceruse - a mixture of white lead and vinegar. It was poisonous! A pale complexion was so desirable that women harmed thereself just to look good, woman still do today to an extent. Face paint made from plant roots and leaves was also applied. An Upper Class Elizabethan woman followed this fashion further and might even dye her hair yellow with a mixture of saffron, cumin seed, celandine and oil! Expensive dyes such as Cochineal was used to redden the cheeks and lips. Kohl was used to darken the eyelashes.

My favourite make-up

Well my first and favourite item is of course foundation, it works wonders for me hide my spots and blemishes and makes me look more healthy than my usual pasty White self my favourite bran so far is the modest dream matt mouse and dream Matt satin liquid their only 8.99 which is cheap compared to some of the more expensive known brands but I couldn't live without it.

Eyeshadow and eyeliner are next on my top 5 list the work wonders for my cat shaped eyes the liquid eyeliner black not of course makes my eyes biggest and the shadow crate well just a nice look for me I change the colour of it ecstasy. My preferred brand of eye liner is just a cheap 2.99 brand cease it has a hard brush so it doesn't tickle my eye an my eye shadow is a brand called beauty uk and was 6.99 when I bought it. They help me look more individual in my opinion because i have funky bright colours on my eyes.

I know thats 5 but you can go wrong with lip gloss or lip stick either.

Style icons

My first style icon is Lady gaga because she's very unique and doesnt care what anyone else thinks of her outrageous fashion sense. Everything about here from here hair and makeup to her clothes appeals to me because I dress like to suit me not other people just like her. I love how she makes lots of fashion statements like her dress made of meat. She changes her hair to match her outfit and her shoes are always individual and at least a foot high. She spends thousands of pounds on her one of a kind outfits and I think it's money well spen as it gets her loads of publicity even though tags not what she's after.

Marilyn Manson is another of my fashion icons wire different From lady gaga yes but in a way the same he dress in a gothic manne because he like to it expresses how he feels and h loves being individual he believes his music to do the same. I adore his makeup, hair and clothing because i like how he inspires some people to fees how they want and bot care abou other people, I also love the colour black so that probably adds to why I like his clothes I'd definitely wear most of them.he has been treated horribly by the media about his fashion sense because he likes to wear woman's clothing as well at first I thought it was weird then I really thought about it and realised is just made me like him more be use he wasn't afraid to stand out.
